Newton H. Parkes, of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, presents the findings of his investigation regarding the transportation of President Roosevelt’s horse. Parkes believes that the report given by Charles H. Lee, who was assigned to travel with and take care of the horse, was “false in every particular.”

This book chronicles the relationship between John Goodall and Theodore Roosevelt. Goodall met Roosevelt in 1884 at the local Stock Men’s Association meeting. Later, Roosevelt worked for Goodall as a cowhand. When Roosevelt was president, he offered Goodall a position as Livestock Superintendent of Indian Agencies at Large.

Theodore Roosevelt notifies Anna Roosevelt Cowles of Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt’s injuries from being thrown from her horse, and despite her injuries, the doctor is not concerned for Edith. Roosevelt informs Cowles that Archibald B. Roosevelt will delay his trip out west due to her accident but is doing well in his examinations and will most likely get into Harvard University.

President Roosevelt is pleased that Kermit Roosevelt has been made captain of the third string football team. Roosevelt relates a story of horseback riding with Edith and Ethel and a pillow fight with Archie and Quentin. He also read the boys Uncle Remus.

President Roosevelt tells his son Kermit he cannot take any hard walks because of his leg but he is playing singlestick with General Wood. Roosevelt also says he rides almost every day with Edith, Ted or Senator Lodge. Roosevelt adds that Kermit will be delighted with the changes to the White House.

Both he and Edith are enjoying the country and sporting events. Roosevelt also discusses the upcoming presidential election and Fourth of July festivities.

Theodore Roosevelt writes to his sister Anna about a recent newspaper article and new horses being delivered to his ranch. Wilmot Dow had two horses stolen. Roosevelt has also been hunting and shot a ram.

Theodore Roosevelt writes his sister Anna about happenings on his ranch. Everything has been going well with the cattle and he will be heading to the Bighorn Mountains in a few days. He was so glad to bring his two “backwoods babies” out with him, Bill Sewall and Will Dow. He thinks it will be a good many years before he gets back into politics.
