Frederick Dent Grant sends President Roosevelt congratulations upon his recent birthday, as well as for his “assumed triumph and overwhelming majority” that Grant predicts will be the result of the upcoming election. Grant hopes to pay his respects to Roosevelt during an upcoming trip he will be taking to Washington, D.C.

Roosevelt invites Grant and his wife, Ida Grant, to have lunch with him when they come to Washington, D.C., for the unveiling of a monument.

May is best, as Grant may soon receive orders to command a division in Texas.

William H. Taft describes the reception of his acceptance speech in Cincinnati to President Roosevelt, which was well attended and generally met with great approval. Taft mentions that he is having trouble with Frank H. Hitchcock, who is headstrong and has appointed his executive committee without any of Taft’s input. Taft was pleased that Frederick Dent and Ida Grant attended the speech. William Jennings Bryan has taunted Taft in the press.

Frederick Dent Grant thanks President Roosevelt for a gift he sent him, as well as for a very nice visit that Grant and his wife had with the Roosevelts. Grant says that Roosevelt’s picture and autograph will be treasured heirlooms for his family.
