Edward W. Burt tells Theodore Roosevelt of his efforts in local politics. His opponents, in being forced to “indulge in personal abuse instead of answering facts and arguments,” have compared Burt to Roosevelt–a fact which Burt is proud of.

Former Representative from Massachusetts William H. Gifford says that he put Westport, Massachusetts, on the map years ago, and that Edward W. Burt does not need to form a new political party for that purpose. Gifford compares Burt to Theodore Roosevelt, and “says he had better be careful or he will get some ‘dry rot’ into his party at the very outset.”
