Henry Lincoln Johnson supports the reappointment of Christopher C. Wimbish as Surveyor of the Port of Atlanta and he hopes that Clarkson can speak with President Roosevelt on the issue. Johnson argues that the people of Atlanta have a good deal of respect for Johnson, and that the only complaint against him is his race. A white man, Marcellus O. Markham, is being pushed by his brother-in-law Captain Lowry. Newspapers and politicians attest to the ability of Wimbish.

Nannie Jackson was the nurse of President Roosevelt’s mother, Martha Bulloch Roosevelt. She is proud to have been associated with the Roosevelt family. Jackson’s nephew, Abraham Hill, is an applicant for surveyor of customs at the Port of Atlanta and she requests Roosevelt’s help with the appointment.

Mayor Mims regrets that Vice President Roosevelt will be unable to visit Atlanta, Georgia, in October. However, Roosevelt has a southern trip scheduled for November and Mims invites Roosevelt to visit Atlanta on November 14 and 15. A banquet will be thrown in Roosevelt’s honor and the Southern Cotton Spinners Association would like him to speak at their annual meeting.

Booker T. Washington submits a broad schedule for Vice President Roosevelt’s travels through Tuskegee, Alabama; Montgomery, Alabama; and Atlanta, Georgia. After the schedule is approved, Washington will begin work on a more detailed program for each location. Roosevelt’s upcoming visit has been “most enthusiastically received by all classes.”
