Masonic Children Return

Newspaper article reporting on the concert at Carnegie Hall for the benefit of the Masonic Home of Utica which consisted of professional performers as well as children from the home dancing and performing music. The concert raised over $5,000 for the Masonic Home and the children enjoyed their trip to New York City. Letters received by William J. Wiley, superintendent of the home, are also printed.

Address before the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania

President Roosevelt addressed the Grand Lodge of Freemasons of Pennsylvania upon the sesquicentennial celebration of the initiation of George Washington in Philadelphia. He spoke of the lessons that can be learned from Washington and Masonry.

President Roosevelt does not think that the Republican National Committee is doing anything about Eugene V. Debs’s assault on William H. Taft which has been published in the Catholic papers. Roosevelt does not believe it would take much money to handle the matter; they just need to convince the laypeople that the attack has been circulated by Protestants, Masons, and socialists.

Summons to Matinecock Lodge officer election

The Matinecock Lodge of Oyster Bay, New York, summons President Roosevelt to a business meeting where, among other things, elections will be held. The letter is signed by James Duthie, master of the lodge and reportedly a gardener of one of Roosevelt’s neighbors.
