In the original letter, Harper thanks Haas for the letter, but explains that Theodore Roosevelt can not do anything in the matter. The annotations Haas added explain what the matter he originally wrote about was, and notes that Luther G. Funkhouser, Postmaster of Roanoke, Virginia, was reappointed to his position on February 1, 1911.
