President Roosevelt asks George Washington University President Needham not to quote him publicly. Although Roosevelt is happy to give Needham advice, he is too busy with his own work to do more. He has recently been asked for endorsements by American University and the Catholic University of America.

Eugene A. Philbin spoke with Archbishop John M. Farley, who suggested that President Roosevelt might send Pope Pius X a message on the occasion of the jubilee marking fifty years since he became a priest. The gesture would be appreciated not just in Rome, but by Catholics in the United States. Philbin hopes to visit when he is in Washington next Wednesday.

Associate Editor of The Century Magazine Robert Johnson asks President Roosevelt about the wording of a reference in his article. Johnson points out that there is a Celtic chair at Catholic University, which Roosevelt may or may not want to mention depending on whether or not he wants to bring up the question of leading universities. They were also delighted by Secretary of State Root’s speech.
