F. S. Stover offers to supply and equip a regiment of 1,000 “colored men” to serve with Theodore Roosevelt. Stover lists equipment he will provide and notes he has influence with “colored people” in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. He will supply specialists; i.e. cooks, stevedores. Colonel Turner writes that he wants a position as a “Colored American” in Theodore Roosevelt’s division. He is a member of the Omaha Fire Department and the U.R.K. of P’s (Uniformed Rank Knights of Pythias). Turner requests a reconsideration of a rejection letter he received from a previous military examination.
