Scrapbook of newspaper and magazine clippings compiled by Ansley Wilcox, regarding the Pan-American Exposition, President William McKinley’s assassination, and Theodore Roosevelt’s inauguration in his home in 1901.
1901
Scrapbook contains photographs and ephemera from the Roosevelt and Alexander families. It particularly focuses on the marriage and early married life of Eleanor Butler Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt Jr. Other subjects touched on include travel to Yellowstone National Park and Europe, art, fashion, high society, and World War I. The scrapbook ranges from 1908 to roughly 1917. Most of the photographs and documents also have their own individual records in the digital library.

A letter with envelope from President Roosevelt to Bishop William Lawrence dated September 21, 1901, which has been taped into an autograph album created by Henry Adams and his mother Abigail and later added to by George Peabody and Endicott Peabody. A handwritten label at the top of the page reads: “Theodore Roosevelt, 1858-19, twenty-sixth president of the U.S., organizer of the Rough Riders, reformer, big game hunter & writer.”
