John Callan O’Laughlin updates Theodore Roosevelt on the attitudes of the Catholic hierarchy regarding Roosevelt’s nomination, and believes that there is not a united stand against Roosevelt. O’Laughlin has also been holding meetings with Senator William Edgar Borah, and both he and Joseph M. Dixon have been writing letters to politicians to begin creating Roosevelt Clubs. Borah hopes that Roosevelt will not say that he is against his nomination and urges him not to criticize the courts. O’Laughlin concludes the letter by asking Roosevelt to meet with James Keely of The Chicago Tribune.
