Charles W. Fleming tells Theodore Roosevelt of his travels between Los Angeles and Chicago, speaking with thousands of individuals regarding the upcoming election. The consensus among them is the desire for Roosevelt to seek the nomination for presidency, even though he has already spoken out against it. It was only because of Roosevelt’s support of President William H. Taft, did Fleming vote for him over William Jennings Bryan, and if he is the Republican nominee again, Fleming will vote Democratic, regardless of the nominee. Furthermore, he does not believe Senator Robert La Follette can unite the party.
