John H. Shay writes Theodore Roosevelt about the upcoming Big Bend reunion of the Grand Army of the Republic. Shay explains that the reunion will raise money for the creation of a memorial hall in Streator, Illinois that will house the Streator Post and organizations like the Woman’s Relief Corps, Spanish-American War Veterans, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Shay asks if Roosevelt will speak at the event and do so free of charge. He mentions that other speakers may include Senator Joseph W. Bailey and Speaker Champ Clark.
