H. Rider Haggard heartily thanks Theodore Roosevelt for his good opinion. As a private citizen of no wealth, he finds it difficult to “drive into the intelligence of a blind and careless generation certain elementary facts which it cannot or will not understand.” Haggard hopes Roosevelt received the copy of Rural Denmark.
