Theodore Roosevelt explains to Archibald Gracie that battles can be discussed endlessly and that readers of The Outlook who did not experience the battles first hand would not be interested. He was surprised to learn that there are people who seriously consider the Battle of Chickamauga a Northern victory. He knows based on experience that The Outlook would not review a book like the one Gracie has written, even if it was about the Battle of San Juan Hill.
