Theodore Roosevelt discusses his articles on the abrogation of the 1832 Treaty of Commerce and Navigation with Russia and trusts and progressivism. Roosevelt agrees with Benjamin Ide Wheeler and his views on the potential Democratic presidential candidates. The weakness of Democratic leaders, including Woodrow Wilson, improves the position of President William Howard Taft. Roosevelt states he does not want to be nominated and says it would be a “calamity.”
