Theodore Roosevelt receives Adjutant General William Verbeck’s telegram stating “Burgess corts[sic] of Albany claims [Roosevelt] a life member.” Roosevelt does not know which organization this membership references as Roosevelt was given a “great number” of honorary memberships. Roosevelt cannot answer Verbeck’s question and asks Verbeck the reason for his question.
