President Roosevelt thanks Bishop O’Gorman for his letter and requests that his warm regards be extended to the Pope, as well as Roosevelt’s appreciation of the Pope’s courteous message. Roosevelt believes that Bishop Spalding’s choice was correct and is sure that O’Gorman is pleased with Judge Smith’s appointment.
