Hornaday assures Theodore Roosevelt that the Camp Fire Club dinner will be carried out according to his wishes. Hornaday strongly objected to William J. Long’s presence at a dinner. The campaign to protect the fur-seal fisheries of Alaska has been successful, and Hornaday hopes the bill will pass before the end of April.

William T. Hornaday sends President Roosevelt information on works by W. J. Long. Long is a known writer on natural history, with his works used in schools. Hornaday claims the observations Long makes about the Baltimore orioles are fake, and presents a letter from witness F. G. Leslie. Hornaday also lists other naturalists who have condemned Long.

For treatment of Roosevelt’s trophy heads Hornaday recommends John Murgatroyd, who does most of Hornaday’s taxidermy work. Hornaday sends a picture of a cougar and describes the wound on a deer he killed in Montana.
