West of the receipt of his letter and provides the full report of the Executive Council of the American Federation of Labor regarding an investigation into the Boy Scouts of America. A committee was formed to thoroughly investigate the Boy Scout Movement and report on it’s influence. Gompers will share more after the next Executive Council meeting.

Letter from Samuel Gompers to Theodore Roosevelt

Samuel Gompers thanks Theodore Roosevelt for his letter and telegram in response to Gompers’ request for permission to republish Roosevelt’s article. Gompers regrets he will not be able to republish the article, as he was not able to discuss some features of it. The Executive Council of the American Federation of Labor was in session and he was unable to find time to write. Gompers responds to Roosevelt’s invitation to lunch with the Outlook, and he asks if June 26, 1911 will be possible.

Letter from Samuel Gompers to Seth Low

Samuel Gompers sends Seth Low a draft of a bill relating to an amendment of the Sherman Anti-Trust and Interstate Commerce laws. Gompers fears that if the bills are enacted into law as they stand, they will harm the position of labor organizations and unions. Gompers insists that workers should have the right to form unions, and that they must be treated differently than corporations.
