Arthur B. Farquhar will meet with Theodore Roosevelt on December 15. He understands why Roosevelt declines invitations to speak, as does the committee. Farquhar knows Roosevelt’s suggestions will be valuable. He is attending multiple meetings during the week.

Arthur B. Farquhar believes Theodore Roosevelt’s interest in rural conditions was one of the greatest works of his administration and should have been endorsed by Congress. The Pennsylvania Rural Uplift Society wants to send a committee to Roosevelt to discuss the matter. Farquhar asks Roosevelt if he is available on December 16. The committee also wants to meet with James J. Hill.

Arthur B. Farquhar congratulates Theodore Roosevelt on his testimony before the Stanley Committee about the Tennessee Coal and Iron Company. As a businessman, Farquhar endorses Roosevelt’s statements, especially regarding attacks on corporations and trusts. He encloses James Rudolph Garfield’s speech at State College, which received tremendous applause when referring to Roosevelt.

Arthur B. Farquhar writes to congratulate Theodore Roosevelt on his recent address in Baltimore. Farquhar mentions he is also pleased with William H. Taft’s presidency. Farquhar inquires if Roosevelt will be able to attend the Conference on Rural conditions to be held at Pennsylvania State College in July. Farquhar references a letter from Elihu Root concerning the Canadian-American Reciprocity Treaty about Root’s acceptance of the treaty.

Arthur B. Farquhar recounts that former justice, Morgan J. O’Brien, despite being a Democrat, said that he has always admired President Roosevelt. O’Brien believes Roosevelt has done much to put down socialism and to ensure access to justice regardless of wealth. Farquhar comments that Roosevelt is well liked and appreciated by common Americans.

Arthur B. Farquhar commends General Leonard Wood’s “grand work” in Cuba and wishes that the country showed more gratefulness to this man. Farquhar plans to visit Cuba and offers to report his findings to President Roosevelt. He comments on the upcoming presidential election and approves of Roosevelt’s policies on New York financial issues, the Panama Canal, and China. Farquhar encloses a letter from his friend Dr. Henry Franklin Hoyt and recommends him for the position of sanitary expert in Panama.
