Robert Bridges informs President Roosevelt that his letter to Charles Scribner was received shortly after Scribner left on a trip. However, Scribner had heard about the possibility of an excerpt of The Rough Riders being printed in a volume by Doubleday, Page & Company, and he was not inclined to view it favorably.
