Anna G. Eurelle asks Vice President Roosevelt to share her letter with proper officials, to prevent a fraud from being perpetrated. A man claiming to be a gentleman and bearing papers from the army as well as the Secret Service engaged a room from Eurelle but did not stay once she started asking questions. She believes the papers the man carries are stolen and that he is using them to obtain room and board, at the expense of the boarding house keepers who house and feed him in good faith.

Philip Battell Stewart thanks Vice President Roosevelt for sending a copy of The Wilderness Hunter. Stewart is hosting Mr. Ingman, a Boer, at his home. He likes Ingman and believes, if he was a Boer, he would act just like they have during the South African War. However, Stewart believes that southern Africa will be better off in British hands. Stewart has spoken to Ingman about hunting lions and imagines a hunting trip with Roosevelt.

White also believes that there is a suitable place for money in political campaigns.

Eliza Raybould Allan wishes she could have talked more with Vice President Roosevelt at an event in Colorado Springs. Allan would have traveled to see him speak again but she is poor and could not pay her fare. Allan is also interested in the writing Roosevelt has done on Oliver Cromwell, as she was born in England and lived in the places Cromwell traveled. Allan is trying to raise money to buy a house and asks Roosevelt to find subscribers to help her.

Letter from C. Hart Merriam to Theodore Roosevelt

C. Hart Merriam clarifies information he gave Theodore Roosevelt about the black-tail deer population. He also points out that the Rocky Mountain mule deer is present all along the eastern side of the Cascade and Sierra Nevada Ranges, as well as the mountains in southern California. Merriam tells Roosevelt that he will send more information about deer at a later date.
