Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Alice Lee Roosevelt

Description:

Theodore Roosevelt writes his wife Alice from his Dakota territory hunting trip. The buffalo are very scarce and every day he scrambles over the rocky terrain of the Badlands on horseback. Roosevelt has killed a good deal of small game.

Minutes of a meeting of the stockmen of the Little Missouri

Description:

Minutes from the first meeting of the Little Missouri River Stockmen's Association including resolutions for how the leadership will be organized, how to call meetings, how each firm is represented and what to do if the railroad refuses to pay for cattle killed by trains. Theodore Roosevelt was elected chairman of the association and the Marquis de Mores was named to work with the Eastern Montana Livestock Association.

Letter from Wilmot Dow to Elizabeth Edwards Dow

Description:

Wilmot Dow’s first letter to his wife, Elizabeth, from the North Dakota Badlands. Letter notes that Bill Sewall and Dow are both doing well and mentions that they are traveling along the Little Missouri River in early spring. Accompanying pictures are located on the back of the letter as it was written on pages from a book.
