New York Public Library-Manuscripts and Archives Division

The Manuscripts and Archives Division at the New York Public Library houses 29,000 linear feet of manuscript and archives in over 5,500 collections. Particular strengths are individuals, families, and organizations from the New York region. The collections illuminate the political, economic, social, and cultural history of the area and throughout the United States.

This collection includes the handwritten manuscript of The Winning of the West, Volume 1 with annotations and textual insertions.
