The cartoons in our collections often help me learn the most about people, events and places during Roosevelt’s era. A cartoonist needs to be able to convey a lot of information in a single drawing and the nuances of the cartoons in our collections never cease to amaze me. This particular cartoon, included in the May 17, 1905 issue of Puck, made me laugh and made me think about whether the month of May still includes quite so many bills for people today. What do you think?

In the merry month of May, Puck, v. 57, no. 1472, Mary 17, 1905. From Library of Congress Prints and Photographs division.
