It’s that time of year again! The Sixth Annual Theodore Roosevelt Symposium here at Dickinson State University will be held October 27-30. It is bigger than ever this year as it is combined with the 92nd Annual Meeting of the Theodore Roosevelt Association.
Some of our featured events this year include:
- Unveiling of a new bronze statue of Theodore Roosevelt, on the site where he delivered his first great national speech on July 4, 1886.
- World premiere of a symphonic arrangement on TR in the Badlands by legendary musician Chris Brubeck.
- Reprise of Douglas Brinkley’s Majic Bus adventure, this time in the Dakota Badlands, visiting sites important to TR that would be difficult to reach without an expert.
- Film debut of Hermann Hagedorn’s Through the Roosevelt Country with Roosevelt’s Friends, released in 1919, remastered and with contemporary footage of the Badlands scenes.
All lectures and panel discussions are free and open to the public. There are registration fees for featured events and field trip. Please see our Symposium website for more information and to register. Hotels are filling up fast, so make your reservations now. We hope to see you there!
