Historian Brooks is forwarding the microfilm of military records. He believes that Colonel Stanley's memoirs are valuable to North Dakota and Montana history, particularly the 1873 letters to Stanley's wife. The recorder is working well and Brooks has plans to record "old timers."

Theodore Roosevelt National Park has two recordings of frontier "old timers," Benton C. Bird and Shy Osterhout. The recordings are too fragile to mail but could be transcribed on tape. Superintendent Jay suggests contacting Harry Roberts, Manager of the Chateau de Mores, who is knowledgeable of the early history of the Badlands.
