Description:

In Upstate New York ("The Catskills not ten miles from here"), Theodore Roosevelt reports on his visit with "Cousin Jimmy." He writes about pony rides, birds and animals he observed, and playing in a brook with "crayfish, eels, minnows, salamanders, water spiders, water bugs. . ." and other topics. "By Theodore Roosevelt. My Life. Three Weeks of My Life. Age 9 Years" is penciled on cardboard cover. Date range is from August 10, 1868 to September 5, 1868.

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Anna Bulloch Gracie

Description:

Theodore Roosevelt and his friends set off large numbers of fireworks over the Fourth of July and they all have some burns. Corinne Roosevelt had an asthma attack but has recovered. Roosevelt is now permitted to stay in the water as long as he likes but he was almost drowned the other day after being caught under water. He is studying English, French, German, and Latin.

Parlor of the Roosevelt home

Shown here is the parlor of the Roosevelt home at 6 West 57th Street, New York, New York.  Note the elaborate paneling by Daniel Pabst and furnishings by Frank Furness as well as the tiger rug before a tasseled chandelier at the top center. The Roosevelt family moved into this residence (now demolished) in November 1873.
