Theodore Roosevelt Island finishes digitization

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

The staff at Theodore Roosevelt Island have completed the digitization of their materials for inclusion in the Theodore Roosevelt Digital Library. TR Island is the first of six National Park Service sites to finish the project, with funding from an NPS Centennial Challenge grant.

Theodore Roosevelt Island is a living memorial to TR in the nation's capitol. At one end of the 88.5 acre island, a statue of TR is flanked by memorial panels engraved with quotations by him. The rest of the island has been preserved as natural wilderness, allowing visitors to escape from the urban environment and view wildlife in the forest and swamp.

You can see items from this collection in the digital library or learn more about the collection itself here.
